Bianca Scardoni is a prima ballerina who has to end her career early because of her injury, she is also the daughter of an Italian Capo who is in the middle of a war with the Bratva. Her father offers her hand of marriage to the Bratva as a sign of peace offering, she rejects the offer immediately, but her father blackmails her by threatening to give her 18-year-old sister instead.
Mikhail Orlov is the Bratva enforcer with a very dark past and he’s well known as “The Butcher” for his ruthlessness. He is scarred physically on his face and all over his body, making him look like a beast with her tall and big muscly body. When his Pakhan offers Bianca’s hand to his men, Mikhail eagerly volunteers, It turns out he has been pining for Bianca for a while, unbeknownst to her. They meet for the first time on their wedding day, and Mikhail learns that she doesn’t speak due to vocal cord damage and Bianca learns that he’s got a daughter.
The communication between them was strained at the beginning with Bianca’s limited speech and Mikhail’s aversion to being touched. The book is a spin on Beauty and The Beast in a mafia world, and it is a beautiful retelling. I cried every time I read the epilogue, these 2 are damaged and they love each other despite all their imperfection.

This was my second read with audio, I enjoyed it even more, this book still holds a dear place in my heart, I love it so much. Bianca is not the typical mafia princess, though considered the most beautiful Italian Mafia Princess, she doesn’t speak and has a rebellious attitude. She hates his father’s guts and doesn’t really get along with her mother and older sister, but she does have a close relationship with her brother Angelo and her younger sister Milene (we will see her again). I liked the fact that even though she’s young, she’s not a virgin like the typical mafia daughter, and my girl right here is so thirsty for Mikhail and the dude didn’t even know it. She’s bold and not afraid to tell him what she wants, and she always stands up for her husband even to her own family, and I love her for that.

My poor tortured Mikhail is so oblivious that his wife is so into him and didn’t dare to make a move, he thought he was a monster who didn’t deserve her, and he couldn’t be any more wrong. This man worships the grounds she walked on and he’s such a good father for Lena. It was so sweet that he always wait for Bianca to make a move, and glad that she never hesitate to do so, my man here thought he hit the fucking jackpot for her to want him. That was the part of the book that I enjoyed reading, seeing them pining for each other, and giving into their passion, so BEAUTIFUL. And did I mention no third-act break-up? Just a cherry on top for me, chef’s kiss 🤌🏻

This is a short story a few years later when Lena is 16 years old, there’s no sign that they had another child. And of course, Daddy Mikhail is there to scare Lena’s date😂
