Asya

I can't go back to my family.

I'm not worthy of them,

Could never be one of them again.

The sister they know, love, and remember,

Doesn't exist.

Not anymore.

Until him....

The one who took me in,

Healed me from my demons,

My fears,

My scars,

Piecing me back,

Bit by bit.

Pavel

I don't get close to people,

And I certainly don't need anyone.

Until her...

Now, she's all I want,

All I need.

The selfish bastard in me,

Wants to steal her away,

All for myself.

But she no longer needs me.

I have to let her go,

Let her soar,

Not break the wings that help her fly.

She's not mine to keep.

To love,

To have.

Can I teach my fractured soul to survive without her?

This is the sixth book in Perfectly Imperfect mafia series. Each book in this series features a different couple and can be read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment, follow the recommended reading order.

My Summary of the Story:

Asya DeVille is the sister of Chicago Capo who got kidn*pped, dr*gged, and sold as pr*stitute, until she managed to escape, she was saved by Pavel Morozov, the Bratva’s Club Manager. She forms trauma bonding with Pavel as her savior and refuses to be sent home to her family because she feels ashamed and blames herself for what happened to her. This is a beautiful story of their journey to overcome their hurt and trauma…

My Thoughts:

This book is vastly different from the rest of the series, present books included. You can read this as a total standalone, as it doesn’t have much to do with the whole mafia organization plotline, apart from the few cameos from other books’ characters. Please check all the trigger warnings before you proceed, as it contains a very heavy topic that may be difficult for some readers. There’s not too much action happening, but there’s still some violence and gore. It follows mostly the domestic life of these two, but surprisingly I was never bored and thoroughly enjoyed their sweet interaction.

What happened to Asya was heartbreaking, it was hard to read, and even more that she blames herself for it. But she is so strong and resilient, after all she has been through, she is still able to overcome her trauma, slowly with Pasha’s help. Poor Pasha, has been alone for all of his life, abandoned by his parents, and never got adopted from Foster care until he joined the Bratva. Though he feels some sort of camaraderie in the Bratva, he is still a lone wolf and prefers to be alone, until Asya suddenly falls into his life. The way he cares after Asya is swoon-worthy, he is so patient and understanding, the pointer he gave Arturo at the end? STOP it, I was bawling goddammit!

This a slow burn, the spice is non-existent until near the end, as their relationship is not driven by lust. The ending of this book is so satisfying to me, I feel like all my heartbreak at the beginning was mended with the last few chapters. The dress that Asya wears, the T-shirt and jeans for Pasha and all of the male guests, and the Moonlight Sonata as the wedding march, it was freaking BEAUTIFUL!

Quotes:

“But seeing this girl, so hurt and unprotected, stirred something deep inside my soul.”

“Every single part of me is in love with you, Pasha. My body. My mind.”

“my heart yearns for him because he is the glue that keeps all my broken parts whole.”
