Blurb:

Nina

Charming, captivating, and seductive,

And a cold-blooded killer.

But I married the Pakhan of the Russian Bratva anyway.

I had to. It was part of the deal.

Now, I’m faking marital bliss,

As I tremble with fear,

And I cannot wait to be out of the clutches of this ruthless man.

Roman

I get anything I desire.

And I want this perfectly imperfect little manipulator.

The way she can deceive anyone into believing she’s crazy in love with me,

Just makes me want her even more.

She doesn't know it yet,

But I am not letting her go.

The deal - is off.

My Summary of The Story:

“I love you so much, I would burn the fucking world for you.” Roman to Nina

Roman Petrov is a ruthless Bratva’s Pakhan who just got into an accident that shattered one of his legs and now he is wheelchair-bound. He suspected that his uncle was behind his accident, and determined to find the proof. His disability is causing his people to doubt his ability to lead the Bratva. One of his trusted men suggests he take a wife to buy some time while he looks for evidence of his uncle's foul play. His choice of bride falls into Nina Gray, the daughter of their real estate mediator who owed the Bratva a lot of money. He blackmailed Nina to marry him for 6 months, otherwise, he would kill her and her father. Nina agreed to be his wife begrudgingly, she assumed the role of his naive trophy wife so she could help him fool his uncle. But she probably played her part too well, both of them wouldn’t be able to let each other go when their terms ended….

My Thought:

Roman & Nina Art by IG:@manuelasoriani

I really love the idea of this series, serving us with a damaged/tortured hero who obsessively loved their woman. The series starts with Roman who had a physical disability, though he got better, he did start with a wheelchair. I love that it didn’t make him any less dangerous, and he still is very capable and insanely attractive. Nina as the FMC is so feisty, she never was intimidated by Roman from the beginning, and I love that she had a career (not another mafia princess, LOL). I went through this book so fast, it was such an easy read for a mafia book, great for a beginner in dark romance. I can’t say the same for the upcoming books, but by then you will get used to it. And the audio quality is really good, I enjoy listening as well as reading it.

I remember when I first read this series and continued until the 7th book, this was the book I liked the least, which is fine since it’s the first book and her book only got better. And can you believe this was her debut novel? But now, after I read/listened to it for the second time, it wasn’t as bad as my memory serves. I remember that I didn’t like the last 20% of the book, which is when Nina leaves Roman. I thought that was rushed, and very childish to just leave without so much closure or something. But now that I think about it again, she IS young, and didn’t have any experience in this mafia world, so her reaction is acceptable. For a normal girl who wasn’t raised in a mafia family, seeing her husband killing someone she knows (even that person hurt her), and being anxious every time he leaves, because he’s in a dangerous line of work, would be too much. I’m glad I did a re-read for this series, even my least favorite from this series is still a bloody good book and I will recommend this series to anyone who likes mafia romance.

This book also has 2 Bonus Scenes available to download for free on the Author’s website.

It's a short story years later when their oldest daughter is already 18 years old, we learn that they have 2 daughters. Roman was of course an overbearing dad who would not allow his daughter to have a boyfriend until they were at least 40 years old. It’s sweet to see the happy couple is still happily married, I just wish for more!

This is just a short funny story from Igor’s POV, Roman’s cook who doesn’t speak English and is close to Nina. This was when Nina was pregnant with her first child, and it was so fun to see their interaction. We also see Olga and Valentina fighting about Kostya, I wonder if his book will be the last in the series since he was still so young.
